It’s not for no reason that Indian Premiere League is called a ‘Cash Rich’ tournament. It has made many players super rich in the last nine years. As the IPL season 10 is not too far away, we bring to you the most expensive Indian players from 2007 to 2016:
• Yuvraj Singh: He is the most expensive player in the history IPL. The veteran southpaw was brought for $2.67 million by Delhi Daredevils, in the year of 2015.
• Gautam Gambhir: The veteran Delhi player might be ignored by BCCI and selectors for his place in Indian team. But he is key player in IPL. He was brought for $2.4 million by his home team Delhi Daredevils. In the year of 2011
• Yuvraj Singh: The explosive batsman has featured 2nd time in this list. This time Royal Challenger Bangalore bought him for $2.33 million in the year of 2014.
• Yusuf Pathan: Like Gambhir, Yusuf has also been ignored for his place in the Indian team, but Yusuf is a key to IPL team. His heroics helped Rajasthan Royals to win one and only IPL title in the first season of 2008. Yusuf was brought for $2.1 million by Kolkata Knight Riders in the year of 2011.
• Robin Uthappa: Again a player whose talent has been ignored for the nation but he is a key member when it comes to the ‘Cash Rich’ tournament. Robin was brought by Pune Warriors India in 2011 at a whooping $2.1 million.
• Dinesh Karthik: The TN wicketkeeper batsman has also featured in this list. He was brought for $2.08 million by Delhi Daredevils in the year 2014.
• Rohit Sharma: The Indian opener has a good IPL season every time. He was bought by the Mumbai Indians for $2 million in the year of 2011.
• Ravindra Jadeja: He is in the Indian squad because of some good performances in the IPL. Jadeja has been the key player for the Indian team since his debut. He was a key member in Chennai Super Kings also. He was brought by the Chennai Super Kings for $2 million in the year of 2012.
• Irfan Pathan: India’s tried and tested all-rounder, his good performance in IPL hasn’t been able to earn him a place in the national side. Irfan was brought by Delhi Daredevils for $1.9 million in the year of 2011.
• Dinesh Karthik: With Yuvraj Singh only Dinesh Karthik features second time in this expensive players’ list. In 2015, Karthik was brought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for $1.75 million.
• Suarabh Tiwary: He was bought for $1.6 million by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the year of 2011.
• Mahendra Singh Dhoni: The former Indian captain also features in this list. He was bought by the Chennai Super Kings for $1.50 million in the year of 2008.
