Mohali: Injuries have hogged the limelight in IPL 9 and the latest addition to the unending list is Shaun Marsh. Having picked up a back injury in Kings XI's loss against Kolkata Knight Riders, Marsh finally capitulated to it, being ruled out of this year's IPL.
Marsh joins his brother Mitch and compatriots Steven Smith and John Hastings to complete a quartet of Kangaroos sidelined due to injury in IPL 9. This ouster from the tournament will be a big blow to the Kings XI Punjab, who received a shot in the arm after a resounding win over table toppers Gujarat Lions.
Marsh was having a decent outing in the competition with 159 runs from 6 matches. The left handed batsman scored an unbeaten 56 against KKR and followed it up with a couple of 40s.
Marsh’s injury will come as a big blow to the Punjab side, who lie at the bottom of the IPL table after managing just two wins in their seven matches. Kings XI will next face Kolkata Knight Riders on May 4 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Apart the Aussie, international cricketers like Faf du Plessis, Kevin Peitersen, Lasith Malinga, Samuel Badree and Lendl Simmons have fallen victims to injuries in this edition of the IPL.
