IPL: Rohit Sharma not happy with Mumbai Indians fielding against Rising Pune Supergiants

Rohit Sharma MIPune: Rohit Sharma led from the front (85 off 60 balls) as Mumbai Indians beat Rising Pune Supergiants by eight wickets in the IPL match played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Sunday.

Chasing 160 to win, Mumbai started off well with Rohit Sharma and Parthiv Patel, who added 39 runs in four overs before Patel was caught by MS Dhoni of Ashok Dinda. Thereafter, Ambati Rayudu joined the skipper and the duo added 52 runs for the second wicket before Rayudu was bowled by R Ashwin in the 12th over. Jos Butler came on to the crease and along with Sharma steered Mumbai to an easy eight-wicket victory and nine balls remaining.

Earlier, a half century by S Tiwary (57 off 45 balls) and a quickfire 45 off 23 balls helped Rising Pune Supergiants reach 159 for five in 20 overs.

In all praise for his bowlers, Rohit, however, wasn’t happy with his team’s fielding. “We have to be the best fielding team in this whole competition. We have discussed that at the beginning of the tournament. Batting and bowling are sometimes not in your hands, but fielding is. So, I think, we have to put in a lot of effort. There were a lot of dropped catches, misfielding,” he said, adding that the bowlers have shown again and again that Mumbai Indians have got quality in their bowling.

Praising Jasprit Bumrah for his three-wicket haul, Rohit Sharma said, “He's been exceptional over the last three or four months. He's always willing to learn. He's always wanting to improve as a bowler.”
