India vs SA 4th Test: India in total control after Rahane's ton, but Amla, de Villiers make it tough for bowlers

Ajinkya Rahane Test 26New Delhi: Ajinkya Rahane on Sunday became the first Indian batsman to score a hundred in each innings of a Test match versus South Africa even as skipper Virat Kohli narrowly missed a ton, as India needed another eight wickets on the last day of the fourth and final cricket Test against South Africa to win the series 3-0 series at Ferozeshah Kotla ground.

However South Africa, chasing a daunting target of 281 runs to win, treaded cautiously to end the day at 72 for 2 in 72 overs. South African skipper Hashim Amla managed to thwart the Indian bowlers with an extremely patient innings of 23 runs off 207 balls, while AB de Villiers was batting on 11 off 91 balls.

Earlier, after Rahane's unbeaten 100 off 206 balls, the hosts declared their second innings at 267 for five. This was Rahane’s sixth Test century, making him the fifth Indian batsman after late Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli to have scored a ton in both the innings of a Test match.
