India vs South Africa 4th Test: Rahane's ton, Jadeja’s five-wicket haul put India in driver’s seat

ravindrajadejaNew Delhi: A fantastic ton by Ajinkya Rahane (127 off 215 balls) followed by a five-wicket haul (5-30) by spinner Ravindra Jadeja put India in driver’s seat against South Africa on the second day of in the fourth and final Test match as the Proteas were bundled out for 121 runs, giving India a second innings lead of 213 runs at Feroze Shah Kotla ground, here on Friday.

Rahane scored the first century of the low-scoring series and shared a 98-run eighth-wicket stand with Ravichandran Ashwin (56). India ended their first innings at 334.

Later, Jadeja orchestrated South Africa’s fall after pacer Umesh Yadav drew the first blood for India by getting Dean Elgar (17) caught by wicketkeeper Saha in the 15th over. Thereafter, it was it was Jadeja’s all through as his triple strike (Temba Bavuma, Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis) soon after the tea break completely derailed the visitors.

With Yadav scalping JP Duminy and Ishant Sharma trapping Dane Vilas in front of the wicket, AB de Villiers was the lone Proteas to show some resistance to the Indian bowling.

R Ashwin finished with a figure of 2-26.
