We didn't assess the wicket well: Jayawardene

mahelajayawardenelostthefourthmatchinarowNew Delhi: The miseries for Delhi Daredevils continued as they lost their fourth match on trot in IPL Season 6. Despite the return of Virender Sehwag, this time they lost at Feroze Shah Kotla, but skipper Mahela Jayawardene wasn't perturbed.

"Not really worried," said Mahela Jayawardene during the post-match presentation, adding that his team was playing some good cricket but some of the results haven't gone their way.

"Playing some good cricket. A couple of good games have not gone our way. We have to keep improving,” said Mahela, adding that the bowling was pretty good against Hyderabad.

“But I don't think we assessed the wicket well. We were looking at 160-170, but the wicket was more like 140. If we had assessed the wicket better, the shot selection would have been better. The bowlers did a good job and created opportunities for us, but we didn't have enough on the board. Nadeem has been some talent for us. Kedar is a guy we know can deliver for us. It;s been up and down but quite happy with the effort of some of the boys. Delhi fans have been always supportive. It hasn't happened so far in the season, but we will repay the faith," said Jayawadene.

Meanwhile Kumar Sangakarra said that he was proud of his boys but things need improvement. "I am proud to lead the Sunrisers Hyderabad. A hard-fought win today. We should have finished with three-four overs in hand. We didn't have the greatest of the starts, but in the middle too we got bogged down. All credit to Steyn, Mishra, Reddy and Parthiv. But the bowling was outstanding. It is a good start, but a lot of hard work to do. we have lost a couple of players to injuries," said the winning captain.

Man-of-the-match Amit Mishra said that he has been improving on his batting since the last two seasons. "There was a bit of pressure when I came on to bat. But I have been improving my batting for the last two seasons and it helped me here. I am trying my best, working hard on batting and fielding. The team's win is more important for me than my personal contribution. Great support from Tom, Sanga and the owners," said Mishra.
