I bowled well in the series: Ravindra Jadeja

jadejaspinstheweb102New Delhi: Ravindra Jadeja, who got the man-of-match award for his fantastic bowling in the second innings and for his batting in the first innings of the Kotla Test, which India won by six wickets, said he just wanted to get as many wickets as possible.

"I did well in this game. The wicket helped the spinners. I just wanted to get as many as possible. Unfortunately I didn't score many runs, but I bowled well in the series. I'm used to playing on such wickets in Rajkot. I was bowling in the right areas and the rest the was done by the wicket."

Meanwhile, terming it to be an important series in which everyone performed well, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Sunday said that a 4-0 whitewash over Australia in Tests was quite satisfying as every member of the team showed a lot of character throughout the series.

"It was an important series for us and everybody performed well. Almost all the pitches were turning and on all the wickets we batted second. We had to face the bowlers in the fourth innings and we all know how difficult it is. I think this wicket got slightly better on the thrid day. The second day was harder to bat on. The new ball did not turn as much as it did yesterday,” said the skipper, giving the credit of the win to everyone in the team.

"Credit goes to every one. The last one and a half years has not been great for us in Tests, but they showed a lot of character. We needed to battle it out and that happened in this series. We get some time off now as there is no international cricket. We can can regroup before the Champions Trophy now," said Dhoni.

Meanwhile, Shane Watson, who led the Aussies in absence of Michael Clarke said that it was a hard fought Test. "It was a hard fought Test. I asked the team to fight back hard and we did do that. Unfortunately things did not go according to our plan with the ball in the second innings. We always thought 150-200 on that wicket would be good enough if we bowled well. We just did not bowl as we wanted. Pujara batted very superbly to take it away from us,” said Watson, adding that it has been a great learning curve for the team.

"This is really as foreign as you get to playing cricket for an Australian cricket team. It's been a great learning curve for all of us. Everyone has got a a lot out of this tour."

Crediting R Ashwin for his bowling performance, Jadeja said he enjoyed bowling in partnership.

Man of the Series, R Ashwin, who took 29 wickets in four Tests, said that everything had gone pretty well for him in the series. "There were a few changes I had to make after the England series. I am very happy at how it has come out. I had to work on my delivery stride. We had very little time after the England series but I was lucky to have a coach who identified it pretty quickly,” said Ashwin, adding that it was quite a tricky wicket for both batsmen and bowlers.

“I thought Pujara played a terrific innings today," said Ashwin.
