Sunrisers vs Warriors: Hits and flops from the match

Sunrisers-Hyderabad-logoSunrisers Hyderabad played brillinatly to defend their score of 126 successfully and credit for their win goes to their bowlers who kept on picking up the wickets at regular intervals. Dale Steyn troubled the Pune Warriors batsmen with his sheer pace while Amit Mishra cast a spinning web around the opposition's batters.

Here we bring before you the players who were hits and flops for their respective teams on day three of IPL 6.

HITS

Dale Steyn: Steyn gunned down the warriors with his pace in the opening match of Sunrisers. The South African bowled brilliantly and ended his spell with three wickets for just 11 runs. He kept the batsmen quiet and gave just four runs in his first two overs. In his final over, he picked up all the left three wickets to take his team to a comprehensive 22-run win.

Amit Mishra: Amit Mishra bowled brilliantly in the mid-overs and set-up the game beautifully for the Hyderabad. His approach was aggressive in his quota of four overs which gave him rich dividends as he picked up three wickets and gave away just 19 runs.

Thisara Perera: Thisara batted really well and made a great contribution of 30 runs with a strike rate of 166.66 and to do justice to his all-round ability, he picked up couple of wickets. He also ran Mitchell Marsh, who was looking to turn the tables, out.

Akshath Reddy: Akshath Reddy batted really well and scored 27 runs for Hyderabad while batting first. He started very cautiously and avoided taking any risks. He was dealing in singles and doubles to steady the innings. Though, his innings didn’t last too long and got bowled by Yuvraj Singh in the final ball of the thirteenth over. He also took the important wicket of Ross Taylor.

Ashok Dinda: Ashok Dinda bowled really well to give the Pune warriors an edge in the competition. He picked up two wickets and gave away 29 runs in his four overs. He could have got a three-wicket haul if Manish Pandey not dropped the catch in the field. Dinda also did a brilliant work in the field.

FLOPS

Yuvraj Singh: Yuvraj was expected to be a bit more sensible in his approach and rise to the occasion. But that didn’t happen as he threw his wicket just for two runs and left his team in some serious trouble. Yuvraj’s poor selection of shot just opened the flood gates and Pune Warriors ended up losing the match. But Yuvraj did have a good time with ball as he picked up one wicket and gave away just eight runs in the two over he bowled.

Marlon Samuels: Samuels was also the culprit for Pune’s disastrous start as he gave away 34 runs in his quota of four overs and took just one wicket. He didn’t lived up to the expectations and looked miserable in batting. He added just five runs to the team's total and was sent back to pavilion by Thisara Perera.

Angelo Matthews: Angelo Matthews gave away 16 runs in two overs. He could have come before Abhishek Nayar to give his team that much needed momentum but he failed to make the call and ended up losing the opening match of this edition of IPL.

Manish Pandey: Manish Pandey, who is popular for his aggressive approach, was looking reluctant to face the pace of Steyn and was looking to survive rather than going for runs. He was leaving the balls as if he was playing Test cricket. Ishant and Steyn went through his defence quite a number of times and he was lucky enough to survive for that long. He took 29 balls to make 15 runs which is far below the T20 standards.
