Under 19 Asia Cup: India rout Nepal to enter semis

Townsville: India Under-19s went down to West Indies Under-19s by four wickets in their opening match of Group C in the ongoing ICC Under-19 World Cup.

West Indies U-19 won the toss and put India U-19 team to bat first. Indian team got off to a horrible start as they lost their first three wickets for only 34 runs. Indian team captain, Unmukt Chand tried to build a partnership with Zol but Chand got out on 26.


Wicket-keeper batsman Smit Patel was the only Indian batsman to get past the 50 run mark, he scored 51 runs to take the score past 150, for West Indies, Beaton was the pick of the bowlers taking three wickets.

 

West Indies chasing a total of 167 runs also got off to a bad start, but their number three and four batsmen, Campbell and Alleyne had an important partnership of 58 runs to take West Indies close to the target. Indian bowlers did bowl well and took wicket at important stages, but a good innings of 43 from Mayers took West Indies home.
