New Delhi: International chess composer(problemist) C.G.S.Narayanan finished a creditable fifth out of 64 composers in section B for three-movers in the World Championship in Composing for Individuals 2010-12, the results of which were announced in the official website www.wfcc.com on Wednesday.
World Championship in Composing for Individuals (WCCI) is organized with the authority of the World Federation for Chess Composition, which is open to composers from all countries.
The Championship included 8 sections and each composer is aiiowed not more than six of his best compositional efforts published in the defined three year-period to each section. A panel of five judges for each section rate the compositions and rank them based on cumulative points. As said earlier Mr C.G.S.Narayanan of Tamilnadu finished fifth in a field comprising of many world renowned Grandmasters of Chess compositiuon.
The first four placings in the three-move section were: Alexandr Feoktistov (Rus) 39.5 , Mikhail Marandyuk (Ukraine) 38, Alexandr Kuzovkov (Rus) 37.75 and Igor Agapov(Rus) 34.5. C.G.S.Narayanan logged 33.5 points to finish fifth. Incidentally four of his compositions, out of six he sent , by virtue of scoring 8 cumulative points each, automatically enter FIDE Album for 2010-12.
