World Badminton Championships: Sindhu storms into final, Saina settles for bronze

PV Sindhu BadmintonGlasgow: India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu defeated Chinese ninth seed Chen Yufei 21-13, 21-10 in the women’s singles second semi-final at the World Badminton Championships in Glasgow on Saturday to set up a final clash against Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara, who defeated Saina Nehwal in the first semi-final earlier in the day.

The World No. 4 Hyderabadi finished the game in just 48 minutes to reach the finals of this competition for the first time in her career. Sindhu has won the bronze medal twice in the World Badminton Championships -- 2013 and 2014, but this will be the first time that she will be fighting for the yellow metal.

Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal failed to get the better of her Japanese opponent as lost the match 21-17, 12-21, 10-21 to sttle for the bronze. Though the London Olympic bronze medallist dominated her opponent in the first game, Okuhara came back strong to win the second and the third games.
