Glasgow: It was double delight for India at the World Championship as Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu made it to the medal round of the event, here on Friday.
World No. 16 Saina Nehwal made the semifinals with a hard-fought 21-19, 19-21, 21-15 win over Kirsty Gilmour of Scotland. The match lasted for an hour and 14 minutes. She will now face world No. 12 Nozumi Okuhura of Japan, who upset the defending champion, Carolina Marin of Spain 21-18, 14-21, 21-15.
Meanwhile, PV Sindhu assured herself of a World Championships medal by demolishing China's Sun Yu 21-14, 21-9 in 39 minutes. This would be the third World Championships medal for Sindhu, who bagged a bronze each at the 2013, 2014 editions before losing in the quarterfinals in 2015.
However in men’s singles, Kidambi Srikanth went down to Wan Ho Son of Korea 21-14, 21-18.
