New Delhi: India’s Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy beat Thailand's Bodin Issara and Nipitphon Puangpuapech 22-20 21-18 to win the Mexico Open title on Sunday. The Indians won their maiden Grand Prix title by beating Bodin and Nipitphon in the final in 35 minutes.
It was an interesting first game, as the Indian pair despite taking leads was given a tough fight by the Thailand duo who came back from behind a couple times to give them jitters. Once leading 20-16, the Bodin and Nipitphon fought back to drew parity, but the Indian duo showed their resilience and closed the opening game in their favour 22-20.
The second saw Manu and Sumeeth keeping their slender lead intact all through the game, which they won 21-18.
Earlier, the duo won had won the Belgian International Challenge and Lagos International challenge, besides reaching the finals of US Open Grand Prix Gold, Dutch Open Grand Prix, Prague Open International Challenge and Guatemala International challenge.
