New Delhi: London Olympics quarterfinalist Parupalli Kashyap cruised into the second round of the China Open with a comprehensive victory against Sweden Henri Hurskainen in Shanghai on Wednesday.
The World number 23 Indian beat the Swede 21-15, 21-15 in a match that lasted for just 37 minutes.
Meanwhile, young Indian female shuttler P V Sindhu making a comeback after a month from a knee injury went down fighting against World number 14 Eriko Hirose of Japan 20-22, 21-14, 19-21 in an hour and six minutes match.
There was more disappointment in store more India as Ajay Jayaram and RMV Gurusaidutt suffered defeats.
Ajay went down to Malaysia’s Daren Liew 18-21, 21-16, 14-21 while Gurusaidutt could not go through to Takuma Ueda 21-11, 13-21, 11-21 in men`s singles contests.
In doubles competition, Tarun Kona and Arun Vishnu picked up an easy 21-2, 21-4 victory over Mongolia`s Erdenebayar Enkhbold and Zolzaya Munkhbaatar to reach the second round.
