The Russian winner of 2012 French Open was at the top of the game and did not give American any chance to find her feet in the match.
In another match, Laura Robson who won the mixed doubles silver in the Olympics pairing with Andy Murray pulled up an upset victory over ninth seeded Li Na of China.
The 18 year old Robson who rose to attention after beating Kim Clijsters in the second round of the tournament whizzed past her fancied opponent 6-4,6-7 (5),6-2 to enter the round of 16.
The Brit now faces defending Samntha Stosur who beat Varvara Lepchenko 6-5, 6-2.
