Sharapova bidding to win back to back grand slam title at WimbledonLondon: Maria Sharapova who completed a career grand slam by winning the 2012 Roland Garros and which helped her in regaining her number 1 position would be riding high on confidence and would bid to become the first female tennis player after Serena Williams of US since 2002 to win French Open and Wimbledon back to back.

While that might be plan but then the Russian knows that it is going to be difficult to achieve that feat.

“I think it’s the toughest back to back Grand Slam-wise, no doubt. Especially if you’re coming off a French Open win or a final it’s the toughest turnaround. As much as you want to celebrate and enjoy, you come here and it’s like a whole new ballgame,” as Sharapova was quoted by wimbledon.com.

Sharapova who fell prey to a shoulder injury won a grand slam after a gap of four year is here in Wimbledon for business. The Russian number one who skipped out on practice last year as she was physically not ready has taken to the practice courts this time and is being seen practicing hard for more than a week.

“I think everybody knows the meaning of this tournament for me, ever since I was a young girl, how special it was," she adds. To be part of its history for the rest of my career and life means a lot. I certainly hope I can achieve the success I had many years ago here,” she added.
