Paris: The Italian pair of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci have won the women's doubles at the French Open after defeating Russia's Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova here Friday. Errani and Vinci came back from a set down to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 against the seventh-seeded Russians.
World No.24 Errani is to play her second French Open final Sunday against another Russian in the shape of Maria Sharapova, and the doubles final's duration of 2 hours 4 minutes is unlikely to help her fitness.
Petrova and Kirilenko have played together since the start of the season, reportedly with the aim of being considered for the London Olympics doubles event.
Kirilenko was a losing finalist in the women's doubles at the 2011 Australian Open, when she played alongside Victoria Azarenka, now the world singles No.1.
