London: Five time world champion from India MC Mary Kom ensured a medal at the London Olympics by winning her quarterfinals match against Maroua Rahali of Tunisia 15-6.
Mary Lom started the match a bit cautiously and looked to line up her opponent, the first round ended with the Indian leading two points to one.
In the second round both boxers looked to gain the momentum, Rahali used her height well but Mary with her quick reflexes did well to dodge the opponent’s punches. The second round ended with Kom leading 3:2.
Round three saw the legendary Indian boxer at her attacking best, she delivered back-to-back punches to take her lead up to 11 points to four after the third round.
In the fourth and the final round Mary did extremely well to maintain the gap and thrived on any opportunity that she got.
