{"id":1853,"date":"2012-01-04T04:20:51","date_gmt":"2012-01-04T04:20:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.com\/?p=1853"},"modified":"2012-01-04T04:20:51","modified_gmt":"2012-01-04T04:20:51","slug":"ioa-reconstitutes-ethics-committee-and-court-of-arbitration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiansportsnews.com\/?p=1853","title":{"rendered":"IOA reconstitutes Ethics Committee and Court of Arbitration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>New Delhi: <\/strong>In a significant development , Indian Olympic Association (IOA) today reconstituted\u00a0 its Ethics Commission and Court of Arbitration by inducted more members to make them more broad based.<\/p>\n<p>IOA Acting President Prof Vijay Kumar Malhotra said here that reconstitution of these bodies has been done as per the decision taken at the Annual General Body (AGM). Ethics Committee will now have five members and Court of Arbitration will consist of eleven members.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Malhotra said a misleading campaign was launched that IOA was against the ethics committee and the Indian Court of Arbitration for Sports (ICAS).\u00a0 The reconstitution of these committees prove that \u201cWe have nothing to hide and we are true to our promise and pledge to have transparent IOA\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reconstitution of these committees with a full approval of the General House of the IOA is a befitting reply to those who want to\u00a0 encroach the autonomy of the\u00a0 sports federation\u201d he\u00a0 said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIOA fully adheres to the Olympic Charter and follows the guidelines of the International Olympic Committee(IOC) and at no stage we ignored IOC\u2019s views or suggestions regarding Ethics\u00a0 committee as has been\u00a0 made out to be by certain vested interests who want to destablise the IOA\u201d Prof Malhotra asserted.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>Before the reconstitution, Ethics committee had three members and Court of Arbitration was comprised of eight members.\u00a0 All those members have been retained.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Malhotra said all the members of these two bodies are retired judges of supreme court\u00a0 and the high courts.\u00a0 Supreme court Judge (Retd) Arun Kumar and High Court Judge (Retd) S.K. Mahajan will be the two new members of the ethics committee. The three new members of Court of Arbitration are: Supreme court Judge (Retd) H.S. Bedi, High Court Judges (Retd) S.K. Agrawal and Manju Goel.<\/p>\n<p>Following is the\u00a0\u00a0 full constituted Ethics Committee:<\/p>\n<p>Justice (Retd) Umesh Banerjee, Justice (Retd)\u00a0 Arun Kumar, Justice (Retd)\u00a0 R.L. Khurana, Justice (Retd)\u00a0 MSA Siddiqui, Justice (Retd) S.K. Mahajan.<\/p>\n<p>Indian Court of Arbitration for Sports (ICAS):<\/p>\n<p>A.R. Lakshmanan, Justice (Retd) H.S. Bedi, Justice (Retd)\u00a0 M.R. Culla, Justice (Retd) R.S. Sodhi, Justice (Retd) BA Khan, Justice (Retd) Mrs Usha Mehra, Justice (Retd) J.K. Mehra, Justice (Retd) Lokeshwar Prasad, Justice (Retd) S.N. Sapra, Justice (Retd) S.K. Agarwal, Justice (Retd) Manju Goel.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Malhotra said that the rules and regulations of Ethics Committee and ICAS will be framed shortly.
