Germany vs France: Griezmann's double sends World Champions home

Antione GriezmannIt was the battle of wits between two super giants, as the world champions Germany took on the host nation France in the second semi final of Euro Cup. It was going to be an absolute cracker between the two pre-tournament favourites.

Germany were playing their sixth consecutive semi-final in all major tournaments while France last played in semis way back in World Cup 2006. Germany were forced to make three changes in their starting line-up while France played with an unchanged side.

From the kick-off, both teams looked to play attacking football but DIE MANSCHAFFT were high up in the pecking order as they had charge of the possession and they kept testing the French keeper. But the match took a dramatic turn when the referee offered a penalty to France during the extra time of the first half. It seemed that Schweinsteiger (the German captain) had handed the ball while clearing Antione Griezmann's corner. Griezmann calmly netted the ball past Neuer, giving France the lead at the end of first half. Germany continued to have most of the ball in the second half but couldn't test Hugo Lloris.

An error from Kimmich around the 73rd min mark saw The Hitman (Griezmann) getting his second goal of the game and sixth of the tournament. The goal was against the run of play but it was enough to send Germany out of the tournament. Germany continued to play attacking football but couldn't score. Germany's best chance of the game came In the dying minutes when a left footed curler from Kimmich struck the far post.

The score read 2-0 at the final whistle with Griezmann scoring both the goals which means France are set to face Portugal at Stade de France on Sunday for the Grand Finale.
