Ace Raider Manpreet Singh has been named as the Captain of Patna Pirates for Season 3 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) which commences from January 30, 2016. And Arjuna Awardee, Sanjeev Kumar, will be the head coach.
Manpreet Singh who is the captain of the ONGC team, has represented India from 2000 to 2007. He was part of the Gold winning Indian team at the Asian Games in 2002 and 2006 and also won Gold in the World Cup in 2007. Sanjeev Kumar was part of the Gold wining Indian team in in the Asian Games 1998 and 2002.
Apart from Manpreet, the Pirates will continue to depend on Sandeep Narwal, their star all rounder, Gurvinder Singh, Sunil Kumar, Amit Hooda and Rajesh Mondal and others to win the championship this season.
The Pirates, who have remained in the top four of PKL since season 1, are aiming to beat all odds and clinch the title in Season 3. The Pirates, could easily be one of the youngest and most aggressive teams amongst the 8 PKL contenders.
Mr. Rajesh Shah, Owner Patna Pirates, said he was more than happy with the team and feels they have a fair chance to win the championship. The Pirates have their first match on February 1st 2016 at Vishakhapatnam against Jaipur Pink Panthers. They will then move on to Bengaluru to play the hosts Bengaluru Bulls on February 3rd 2016.
The home leg of the Pirates commence on February 16 with a match against Bengal Warriors at the Patliputra sports complex, Kankarbagh, Patna.
