Melbourne: Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza continued with their dominance in women’s doubles as the Indo-Swiss pair took just 54 minutes to demolish Julia Goerges and Karolina Pliskova and cruise into the final of Australian Open, here on Wednesday.
The top seeds won 6-1, 6-0 to stretch their unbeaten streak to 35 matches.
Goerges and Pliskova started well, holding comfortably then carving out four break points in the third game. Thereafter, Hingis and Mirza, the reigning Wimbledon and US Open champions, went on to win the match to reach third Grand Slam final.
Meanwhile, Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka reached their first Grand Slam final by beating Xu Yi-Fan and Zheng Saisai. Having knocked out No.2 seeds Chan Yung-Jan and Chan Hao-Ching in the last eight, Hlavackova and Hradecka were got the better off Xu and Zheng, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the semis.
