Greater Noida: Sahara Force India were aiming for a double points finish at the Indian Grand Prix, but then they might just have foiled their chances as none of their cars managed to finish within top 10 in the qualifying here today at the Buddh International Circuit.
Nico Hukenburg with a timing of 1:25.283 will start the race from the 12th position on the grid while, Paul Di Resta clocked 1:26.989 to finish 16th.
Disappointed with the performance, Hulkenburg said, "We were expecting to make it to the Q3, but missing it was disappointing. The way first qualifying went, it became quite clear that making it to the top 10 was going to be tough. My lap in Q2 was pretty good and that was the maximum we could have got out of the car," said Hulkenberg.
Even though they did not have much to cheer bout after the qualifying, they sound quite optimistic and are hoping for a good performance tomorrow.
“Look at the overall performance, I think we can still end with points tomorrow,” added Hulkenburg.
Di Resta, who has rolled out his worst qualifying performance this season was not happy with the performance, but then he it was due to the set-up of the car.
"It is a big disappointment. Nothing went right for us. The car balance was not ideal and I could not have my best lap in my final run in Q2. It is an important day for us tomorrow and we need to try to and recover some ground and come home with some points," said Resta after the qualifying session here.
Force India will need to score some good points if they want to keep up the pace with Sauber in the constructer’s championship. Force India are seventh in the team standings with 89 points, trailing their closest rival by 25 points.
