London Olympics: Yogeshwar Dutt storms into quarterfinals

London: Yogeshwar Dutt won the bronze medal after winning three rounds back to back in repechage after losing to Besik Kudukhov of Russia in the pre-quarterfinals in the men’s 60 kg freestyle category at the ExCel Arena.

Yogeshwar displayed some tremendous skills to become the third wrestler after K.D. Jadhav and Sushil Kumar to win an Olumpic bronze medal.

In the decisive third period the Indian grappler took 6-0 lead against Ri Jong Myong to take the honors. He won three bouts inside one hour which was incredible.

Earlier in the day, Dutt defeated Anatolie Ilarionovitch Guidea 3-1 on classification points to reach the pre-quarterfinals. The opening period saw both the wrestlers engaged in an intense battle and nothing was able to separate these two wrestlers and it ended scoreless. The Bulgarian was lucky in the first period as he won the toss to emerge winner through clinch position.

 

Yogeshwar started next period on a much aggressive note and was the 2-0 on technical points to force the match into the third and final perid.

 

The Indian continued to dominate in the last period as well and won it 5-2 on technical points to seal the bout is his favour.

Yogeshwar then met Besik Kudukhov and lost the round, to go through the repechage.
