Sentosa: India’s Anirban Lahiri picked up the Lowest Stroke Average (68.07) and Greens in Regulation (75.99%) awards along with the biggest trophy of all - the prestigious Asian Tour Order of Merit crown following two wins in 2015. Lahiri also won the Hilton Golfer of the Year award following an online poll which was voted by golf fans.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s Natipong Srithong has capped a deserving maiden season on the Asian Tour by etching his name on the 2015 Roll of Honour by winning the Rookie of the Year award.
The 22-year-old former amateur star turned professional last September after winning the individual and team gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games and enjoyed immediate success in the pro trail with a breakthrough victory at the Resorts World Manila Masters.
The talented Thai, who overcame a four-shot deficit to win the Manila showpiece by one shot, needed only four events as a professional to lift his first Asian Tour title in his rookie season.
Natipong is amongst a host of winners who earned awards for outstanding performances in 2015.
Brazil’s Adilson Da Silva bagged the Driving Accuracy (81%) award while Paul Peterson of the United States chalked up the most number of birdies to become the Birdie Leader of 2015 with a haul of 226 birdies.
India’s S.S.P. Chawrasia had the Lowest Putting Average of 1.71 while Korea’s Jeunghun Wang was the master of getting out of trouble with his Sand Saves award (70.59%).
Korea’s Lee Sung won the Driving Distance category for the second consecutive year with an average distance of 308 yards and the 2015 Event of the Year went to the inaugural Ho Tram Open, which at US$1.5 million was the most lucrative full field Asian Tour event held at the stunning Bluffs Ho Tram Strip last year.
