Miami: American Venus Williams defeated Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7/5) to move into the third round of the Sony Ericsson Open played here on Sunday.

Williams would now face off against former world number one Ana Ivanovic beat Daniela Hantuchova 6-2, 7-6 (7/2).

Meanwhile, Victoria Azarenka cruised past Heather Watson 6-0, 6-2, while Marion Bartoli defeated Simona Halep 6-4, 7-6 (8/6) and Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska thrashed Silvia Soler-Espinosa, of Spain 6-1, 6-2.
