New Delhi: Round 3 of the 18th JK Tyre Racing Championship is all set to kick-start at the world-class Buddh International Circuit (BIC) on October 17-18, 2015. After two exciting rounds in Coimbatore, Round 3 promises some breath-taking moments as the young speedsters take to the track in their mean machines.
Over the race weekend, the top drivers from the championship would be seen battling for honors across three categories namelyJK Racing India Series,Formula LGB 4 and JK Tyre-Volkswagen Vento Cupto maintain their lead in the overall championship standings. An interesting addition to the championship in Round 3 is the JK Super Bike Cup. The JK Super Bike Cup was introduced in the championship in 2014 and received an overwhelming response from the spectators. The category will feature a grid of 35 riders on their 600cc and 1000cc bikes showcasing some world-class two wheeler racing.
The competition has gone down to the wire and racers will give it their best shot to keep their lead in the championship. BIC gives an opportunity to these young racers to drive and prove their mettle in one of the world’s fastest and best Formula One race track. The 5.13km long track known for high speeds, lots of elevation changes, long straights, wide corners which are designed to encourage overtaking, is indeed one of the most challenging F1 tracks. The qualifying racesacross categories will be held on Saturday followed by the main races which will be held over Saturday and Sunday.
The JK Racing India Series featuring the JKFB02 cars, has witnessed some really exciting races in the last two rounds which were held in Coimbatore. National Karting Champions Krishnaraj Mahadik from Kolhapur and Ananth Shanmugam from Bangalore had a great weekend in the last round with a win each. Vishnu Prasad who has been lifting the overall champion trophy for the last two seasons in this category is already in the lead in the overall points table. If things go his way this weekend and given his comfort level of driving the FB02 at BIC, his fans and followers can expect a hattrick from Vishnu.
In the Formula LGB 4which is stepping stone for single-seater racing in India, the competition between 25 drivers has gone to the next level where the top ten drivers have finished within a second of each other. Ace driver from Chennai and a pilot by profession Ajay Kini from Team Dark Don Racing with multiple wins in the last two rounds is currently leading in the championship points table. With a slender margin of five points, Raghul Rangaswamy from Team Meco Racing is placed second and has taken everyone by surprise this season. He can prove to be a tough competitor for Ajay. The seasoned Vishnu Prasad from Chennai is also eyeing for the top position and it will be an interesting sight to watch Ajay, Raghul and Vishnu in action at BIC this weekend. With other experienced drivers namely Karthik Shankar, Sudarshana Rao, Ameya Bafna, Chittesh Mandody, Sarosh Hataria, Diljith TS, the battle is going to be an intense one. The teams who will be fielding their drivers in this category are Chennai based Team Meco Racing (owned by international racer Armaan Ebrahim), Mumbai based Team Rayo Racing (owned by eight times National Champion Rayomand Banajee), Chennai based Team Dark Don Racing (owned by former racer AfsarRiyaz) and Bangalore based Team Avalanche Racing (owned by ex-racer Fazal Khan).
In the JK Tyre-Volkswagen Vento Cup, Delhi boy Karminder Singh is leading the pack of 22 drivers in the maiden season of the Vento Cup. However, Anindith Reddy Konda from Hyderabad is on a very close chase and with just one win he can overtake Karminder on the points table. The VW Vento Cup has received quite a positive response from the participants as well as viewers. As the Ventos make their entry at the Buddh International Circuit, the cars and the driving skills and race craft of the drivers to real test.
The 2014 season of the JK Super Bike Cup witnessed heart-stopping racing as the riders took control of their two-wheel monsters and kept charging to take the chequered flag. Over 36 riders from across the country will be linking up the grid. The grid is a mix of BMW S1000, Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R, Yamaha R1, Honda 1000RR, Ducati 899 and the likes. In the 600 cc category all the bikes are from the leading two wheeler manufacturer Triumph. The top bets in this class will be Delhi based rider Manmeet Singh who this year will be facing tough competition from Kulwant Singh, Gurvinder Singh, and Bhupinder Singh and last but not the least Chennai-based rider Dilip Rogger who is considered as India’s pioneer on the international two-wheeler racing circuit. Niharika Yadav is the lone female participant on the male dominated grid and she is all geared up to give the men a run for their money. With such top-end bikers on the grid, the audiences can expect some knee-scraping action.
