Hero Hockey India League announces Technical Officials

New Delhi: Hero Hockey India League today announced the panel of Technical Officials for its inaugural season, which will be held from 14 January to 10 February 2013.

Well-experienced Barry Anderson from England will be the Tournament Director for the five team franchisee based event. The 61-year-old Englishman has vast experience in his respective field has attended three FIH Champions Trophy, three FIH Champions Challenge and FIH World Cup Qualifying Tournaments.

Anderson will be supported by five Assistant Tournament Directors – Claudius De Sale, Muneer Mohammad, Shakeel Qureshi (all from India), Ian McKay (Scotland) and Howard Pollard (England).

 

Hockey India Secretary General and Hero Hockey India League Chairman Dr. Narinder Batra said the appointment of well experienced technical officials from different countries is a major step towards ensuring that the league is technically well conducted. “We have already appointed Steve Catton as Competitions Director for the league who was also Competitions Director for the European Hockey League” he said.

Five Technical Officers - Rakesh Bhatia, Feeroz Khan, Rajendra Shelar, Ashutosh Verma and Faiyaz Qureshi (all from India) - will conduct the matches at five cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Jalandhar, Lucknow and Ranchi.

Sonia Bathla, Davinder Bhatia, Kalvin d’Cruz, Nidhi Gupta, Khalid Hussain, Michael Lal, Milind Narwekar, Harinder Sangha, Anjali Sharma and Avinash Srivastava (all from India) are the part of 10-member Judges Panel of the Hero Hockey India League 2013.

On the field, Michael Eilmer (Aut), Murray Grime (Aus), Marcello Servetto (Esp), Gary Simmonds (RSA), Anil Kumar, Raghu Prasad, Gurinder Sangha, Javed Shaikh, Ripudaman Sharma, Suresh Thakur Kumar, Pankaj Tyagi and Harsha Vardhan (all from India) are the 12 umpires who will officiate 34 matches and keep their eyes on all players during the action-packed League.
