Hyderabad: Brilliant batting display by opener Jiwanjot Singh (85) and Mayank Siddana (67) helped Punjab beat Tamil Nadu by six-wicket win in a group A league game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, here on Sunday.
Batting first, Tamil Nadu were all out for 226 in 45.3 overs. Dinesh Karthik top scored with 69 off 93 balls, while Murali Vijay made a valuable 35.
Siddharth Kaul was the pick of the bowlers for Punjab as he finished with 4 for 17 in 8 overs while Brainder Sran took 3 for 37. Skipper Harbhajan Singh picked the important wicket of Vijay.
Chasing the target, Jiwanjot hit 85 off 101 with 10 fours. He went on to add 92 runs with Gurkeerat Singh Mann (41) and 86 runs with Siddana as Punjab won the match in 44.5 overs.
