IFA Shield 2016: Liverpool FC-DSK Academy register first victory, defeat Mohammedan SC 3-0

Liverpool FC International Academy DSK Shivajians in action against Mohammaden SC in the ongoing 120th IFA Shield 2016Pune: Liverpool FC International Academy-DSK Shivajians logged their first victory in the ongoing 120th IFA Shield 2016 brushing aside Mohammedan SC 3-0 at the Kalyani Stadium, Kolkata, on Saturday.

A brace by Indian international Lallianzuala Changte (43rd and 51st minute) apart from Prasanth Karuthedathukunni (36th minute) helped LFC-DSK Academy move into second position in behind AIFF Elite Academy in Group-B. Both LFC-DSK Academy and AIFF Elite Academy have thre points each, however the latter has played one game.

Having suffered a close loss in their opener, LFC-DSK Academy was out to prove their worth and eager to get points. Mohammedan, on the other hand, had played out a draw in their first match against Mohun Bagan.

Pune-based LSK-DSK Academy began aggressively and dominated the ‘Black and Whites’. Although LFC-DSK Academy enjoyed a huge share of the possession, Mohammedan SC did well to hold off most of the attacks.

LFC-DSK Academy made their first breakthrough deep into the first half. Defender Prasanth, setting off on a solo run, brilliantly dribbled past four Mohammedan players on his run and slotted past the ‘keeper with ease.

Seven minutes later, LFC-DSK Academy scored their second. Sairuat, the well built defender, did well to find India International Lallianzuala with an accurate pass from half-line. Lallianzuala seized the opportunity and made no mistake with his finish.
LFC-DSK Academy went into the breather with a two-goal cushion.

On resumption, LFC-DSK Academy was out with purpose and sought to increase their tally. Their persistence paid off, six minutes after resumption. Off a free-kick, Vanlalremkima’s delivery in the box was missed by Lalthathanga who tried a header, however, Lallianzuala who was unmarked at the far post made no mistake with a brilliant diving header to make it 3-0.

This victory will lift up the entire LFC-DSK Academy squad and give them much needed confidence ahead of their crucial tie against Frenz United the Malaysian outfit on the 22nd of February, Monday.
