Melbourne: Britain’s Andy Murray got the better of Sam Groth of Australia 6-0 6-4 6-1 in the second round of Australian Open here on Thursday. He will next face Joao Sousa who beat Santiago Giraldo 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1.
Meanwhile, No. 13 seed Milos Raonic defeated Tommy Robredo 7-6(6), 7-6(5), 7-5 in two hours and 55 minutes and John Isner defeated Marcel Granollers 6-3 7-6(6) 7-6(2).
In the women’s category, two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka had an easy day against Danka Kovinic to advance to the third round. Azarenka needed barely an hour to cruise past Kovinic 6-1, 6-2.
Meanwhile, former No.1 Ana Ivanovic got the better of Anastasija Sevastova, 6-3, 6-3.
