Players like him come once in many generations and his instinctive ability to grasp, adjust and deliver is what makes him such an outstanding cricketer. Cool and restrained on the field, Sachin Tendulkar is a synergy of physical and mental strength; a unique amalgam of flair and character; passion and steel.
He played for over 24 years and one would find it very hard to spot a change in the attitude of the legend. He played with the same vigor and dedication throughout his life and his magnanimous character by and large exemplifies simplicity. He shouldered the responsibility of Indian cricket and entertained everyone for more than two decades. His hunger to excel and improve remained the same and the pride that he took from representing the country was quite evident from the way he reacted after reaching his century of centuries. He just looked up to the heavens and then pointed towards the Indian Crest on his helmet, a gesture which clearly indicates that nothing matters to him more than the nation.
His character does not fail to inspire both on and off the field. He has been an idol for so many youngsters aspiring to become cricketers. His teammates find a friend, guide and mentor in him and everyone who has played with him would agree to that. He is a source of motivation and his mere presence in the team is enough to lift up the spirit. And this is obvious for someone to get influenced by a character like him.
But his exceptional traits not only make him an inspiration for aspiring cricketers or teammates but the whole generation of youth. He is an ideal person to idolize and his qualities are a perfect cocktail for success.
Let’s have a look at what has made Sachin Tendulkar what he is today:
Dedication:
His dedication does not require any justification. A guy playing for over 24 years and remaining same lethal as when he made his debut is awe-inspiring. He has never let down his performance and always did put the team ahead of anything. Many people has this feeling about him that he played for records, and that is so then be it, because it was because of the records that India has reached where it is today.
And Sachin in spite of doing so much received criticism because it took him a year to score his 100th hundred. But he never felt the necessity to react and went on with his job. Now that he has achieved almost everything, he can retire but he wants to serve the country as long as he can physically do it. And even when the whole team opts to skip the optional practice he would be the only man to be seen in the nets practicing. Such is his dedication and all should hail him for his commitment.
Ideologies:
He is a man of principles and abides strictly to them. Sachin is the king of endorsement and over the years he has been the face of so many products and companies. But one can never see Sachin endorsing to any liquor or tobacco products. The reason behind this is the promise which he made to his father that he would never be a part of these campaigns. He let go off a very lucrative deal a year back due to the word he gave to his father. Sachin knows how youngsters follow him and he feels that it would be unfair to indulge the youth in these hazardous activities.
Away from controversies:
Be it Tiger Woods, Wayne Rooney or John Terry, everyone has some or the other controversies engulfing them. But Sachin has been away from all these. He disciplined life kept him controversy free and such has been his influence that even the coaches from abroad would ask their players to take examples from him.
Honesty: Sachin totally believes in the idiom “Honesty is the Best Policy.” If Sachin gets out and the umpire fails to detect that, he would simply start walking. Cheating is against his policy of life and this very fact has often prompted the umpires to consult Sachin whether he is out or not, if they find the situation tricky.
