India at Olympics, Day 8 updates: Sania-Bopanna lose to Venus and Rajeev Ram in semis

sania mirzaRio de Janeiro: After their stupendous show on Day 7, all eyes will be on mixed doubles pair of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna, who after beating Andy Murray and Heather Watson in the quarters, will take on USA's Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram in the semi-finals on Saturday. A win on Day 8 will assure them of a medal.

Meanwhile, in golf, India's Anirban Lahiri and SSP Chawrasia will continue their campaigns in the men's individual third round. In shooting, in the men’s 25m Rapid fire pistol and men’s skeet qualification, Gurpreet Singh and Mairaj Ahmad Khan will look to qualify for the finals.

The track and field events will also see some of the Indian athletes in action. Lalitha Babar, the first Indian woman steeplechaser to reach a world final, and Sudha Singh will start with the steeplechase heats. Nirmala Sheoran will be part of the 400m heats. There are others who would also be in action on Day 8.
