Visakhapatnam: After some fantastic bowling from Marcus Toinis (4 for 15 in four overs) and Sandeep Sharma (2 for 11 in four overs) that restricted Mumbai Indians to 124 runs, Murali Vijay (54 off 52 balls) and Wridhiman Saha (56 off 40 balls) rose to the occasion with the bat, as Kings XI Punjab won the IPL encounter by seven wickets at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on Friday.
Marcus Stoinis, who was Man-of-the Match, said, “The wicket suited my bowling. It looked tough to score. I used the odd change of pace. It was a blessing in disguise that we got to chase. It was a team effort and all the bowlers bowled well.”
Kings XI Punjab skipper M Vijay, said, “Was hitting the ball well, now everything falling together. We were missing out on winning moments. The wicket was on a slower side. The first six overs set the tone for us. 140 would have been defendable. I wanted to cut down on the risk factor while batting.”
Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma said, "It poor execution from our side. The wicket wasn't easy. It was sticky. We should have applied a little bit. A score 125 was not going to be easy to defend. Kings XI used the conditions really well. We tried some things, it didn't work. Too much talking doesn't help sometimes. We know what to expect. We have played two games here. 140 is a winning score here."
