All England Championships: Indian ace shuttler Saina loses to China's Tai in quarterfinals

Saina Nehwal 3London: Unseeded Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei ousted India ace shuttler and second-ranked Saina Nehwal 21-15, 21-16 in the YONEX All England Championships quarterfinals, here on Friday. She will now play 2014 winner Wang Shixian, who prevailed against Li Xuerui, in the semis. 

World number nine Tai have won her last four encounters with the Hyderabadi shuttler.

“I just want to improve and be more patient,” said Nehwal, who had returned from injury.

Meanwhile, top seed Carolina Marin of Spain got the better of fourth-ranked Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand for the first time in five matches.

In the men’s singles, Lin Dan, China’s five-time champion, advanced into the semi-finals beating Danish Jan O Jorgensen. Lin came back from a game down to win through 10-21, 21-9, 21-15 and will play unseeded compatriot Xue Song for a place in his first men’s final.
