New Delhi: The much-awaited clash between Bkhacken and East Bengal Football Club in Pool H saw the former beating the latter 2-1 in the Junior Boys (Under-17) league matches of the 56th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here today.
In the other match played at the same venue, Indonesia’s Daftar Nama Kontingen routed Goa’s Government Higher Secondary School 7-0 in Pool F. At the NWC ground, the match between IPSC and Tata Football Academy School ended in a 3-3 draw in Pool E, while Haryana’s Delhi Public School (Panipat) found an easy prey in Lakshadweep outfit as the former won 3-0 in another Pool F match.
The Swedish players were expected to do well against an Indian side and the Bkhacken did not disappoint. Playing a tight game, they kept East Bengal FC from harm’s way for most part of the match. That also indicated how the Swedish coach made his plans on the ground and his boys executed them to near perfection.
The Swedish boys went up in the 36th minute when Joel Mumbango found the net. Stung by the goals, there were a few counter-attacks originated from the East Bengal side but the teams went for the break.
On resumption, again Joel hit the target within 10 minutes to consolidate their lead. However, their goal fell when Mohammad Imran Mondal slotted in the 50th minute. After the event, Bkhacken became wise and plugged all the gaps and did not let another slip from their defence.
But it was an easy affair for the Indonesian side with no resistance coming from their Goan opponents. They opened their account as early as in the fourth minute and continued the onslaught to the 68th minute—both these goals were struck by P. Risdianto—while M. Hambali T (37th minute) scored once even as substitutes RizkyAprillia and EgyMaulana scored a brace each to complete the rout.
However, it was an interesting duel that kept everyone on tenterhooks between IPSC and TFAS, who took the lead in the second minute when Swarnim scored. But they could not keep it for more than 16 minutes as Aayush Steve restored parity in the 18th minute even as MayankRochlani put them in lead in the 33rd minute.
After change of ends, TAFS boys played a very tight game and made it 2-2 when Rishab scored in the within a minute of resumption. Then it was the turn of Aayush Steve to score his second goal in the 68th minute but even before they could celebrate it Deerajfound the target during injury time to share points.
For the Haryana boys it was a cakewalk against the Lakshadweep outfit which was round to be a mismatch. Close to the first half Haryana went into 1-0 lead but after resumption they played with purpose and it resulted in two more goals. Gaurak Kumar struck in the 50th minute and just at the whistle SourabhRawal added one more to their tally.
