BCCI recommends Dravid for Khel Ratna, Yuvraj for Arjuna Award

Mumbai: Board of Cricket Control India (BCCI) has decided to nominate retired Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid and 2011 World Cup winning hero Yuvraj Singh for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and Arjuna Award respectively.

BCCI would forward the name next week. The nomination ended on April 30 but then the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs have extended the last date to July 20th after there was an alleged miscommunication and BCCI failed to file their nomination. The ministry has extended the deadline so that they could accommodate the cricketers.

Rahul Dravid has recently retired from all form all of international cricket and has been one of the most successful batsmen for India. Only two cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni have won the country’s highest award for sportspersons.

Yuvraj Singh who was instrumental in helping India win the 2011 World Cup has been nominated for the coveted award for the second time.
