Paris: The French Open men's singles final between Novak Djokovic and Rafael ‘Nadal will continue Monday after rain stopped play with the Spaniard in the lead. Nadal's search for his seventh title at Roland Garros will resume with him leading 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 1-2 after Djokovic surged back into contention in the third set.
Nadal, who came into the match the favourite with six French Open titles to his credit, claimed the first two sets and when it looked things would be easy for the Spaniard on his way to his seventh title, Djokovic launched a resilient revolt and roared in delight as he secured a second break in the third before comfortably closing it out.
Djokovic was bidding to become only the third man to win all four grand slams consecutively while Nadal was hoping to become the outright holder of the record for Roland Garros titles.
The match will restart at 13.00 local time Monday and everyone with a ticket for Sunday will be allowed to attend free of charge, organisers said. (IANS)
