Deccan Chargers vs Mumbai Indians: Hits & Flops...

Deccan Chargers (DC) is back to their losing ways. After winning their first match in Indian Premier League V against Pune Warriors India a few days back it looked as if they have found the touch that was missing and was on the way to redemption.

But the way they lost to Mumbai Indians makes it quite clear that they are far from doing that. Mumbai Indians bowled DC out for 100 runs and even though in their pursuit received some hiccups, they managed to go past the target in 18.1 overs.

Here are some of the performances that shaped the course of the match:

Mumbai Indians:

Hits

Rohit Sharma: Sharma has been the most successful batsman for Mumbai Indians this season and once again he played a pioneer role in helping his team win the team. Even chasing such a meager total Mumbai saw some early collapse, but it was his 42 runs knock of 48 deliveries which consisted of four fours and a six ensured that his team emerges victorious.

Lasith Malinga: A week ago, he was nursing an injury but that certainly does not imply on his performance. He proved that he is the most important cog in Mumbai’s bowling attack and he took four wickets yesterday by giving away just 16 runs to help his team bundle out DC for just 100.

Flops:

Batting: It has been a worry for Mumbai throughout the season. And on a day when they should wrapped up the proceeding very easily, their batting collapsed and lost five wickets before winning the match in18.1 overs.

Deccan Chargers:

Hits

Bowling: Deccan bowled with grit and even though they had to defend a meager total of 100, they made sure that MI batsmen face some serious trouble before they achieve the target. They bowled a strict line, took wickets to delay the inevitable.

Flops:

Batting: Their batsmen once again failed to get their team off to a challenging total. They were looking clueless against Mumbai’s bowling attack and put up a meek fight. They slumped to their lowest score of this season’s IPL.
