Greater Noida: The second day of the Round 3 of JK Tyre Racing Championship 2015 opened with the Vento Cup race and witnessed the third victory for New Delhi’s Karminder Pal Singh. Starting sixth on the grid, Karminder made early moves in the first two laps of the race to take the lead which he held on to, till the end against 18 other drivers on the grid. Clinching the second spot on the podium was Hyderabad’s Ishaan Dodhiwala. Following him was Prabhanj Paruchuri, who climbed the podium for the first time in his racing career. Winner of the first race of the weekend, Anindith Reddy, managed to finish fourth after having started back in eighth on the grid. The audience were treated to a race in which a lot of drivers exchanged positions throughout the eight laps of competition, especially, the mid-order ones.
In the third race of the weekend, the crowd was entertained with nail-biting action for the 1-2 positions as well as 3-4 positions. Right on the second lap of the race, an incident involving Amit Mete forced the Safety Car to come out. Once the race restarted at full pace, it was Anindith Reddy defending his pole-position successfully from an ever-attacking Ishaan Dodhiwala. Behind them was the next exciting fight between the winner for the morning race, Karminder Pal Singh, and Sailesh Bolisetti. Both of them exchanged positions three to four times on lap five and six with Karminder crossing the finish line ahead. However, Karminder was penalised for running off the track and he dropped down to fourth position which helped Sailesh Bolisetti clinch the third place in the end.
After two victories over the weekend, Anindith underlines his favourite role for the championship crown alongside his two strongest competitors – Karminder Pal Singh and Ishaan Dodhiwala. With close results like these, the fight for the top honours will go down to the last race of the last round at Buddh International Circuit to be held from 27th to 29th November.
An excited Anindith Reddy, after winning two races over the weekend, said: “This has been a great round for me. Two victories are more than what I had expected before coming here. The competition is tight and I had to push it really hard to stay ahead. From here onwards, I have to carry on my form to the last round of the championship.”
Sirish Vissa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, commented: “This was an interesting weekend with a mix of action throughout. The drivers came from a small and slower circuit to a high-speed track – a shift that they managed in an impressive manner. We have witnessed good competition between the top drivers as well as the middle-order racers. With this level of driving, we are sure to put up a great show at the last round of the championship in November.”
