Visakhapatnam: After Ashoke Dinda (20/3) and Adam Zampa bowled superb spells to restrict Delhi Daredevils to just 121 runs, rain too played its part as Rising Pune Supergiants beat Delhi Daredevils by 19 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method in the IPl match at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.
Put in to bat first, Delhi Daredevils failed to find partnership and their innings never flourished. Karun Nair, who came in to bat at No. 3, was the innings top-scorer with 41. He struck five boundaries in his 43-ball outing. Had it not been for Chris Morris quickfire towards the end, Delhi would have found hard to cross the 100-mark. Morris, who came in to bat in the 15th over, scored 20-ball 38 with four boundaries and two sixes.
Ashok Dinda set the tone for Rising Pune Supergiants, trapping Quinton de Kock in the third over. Adam Zampa and R Ashwin exploited the conditions beautifully and gave away just 44 runs in their eight overs.
Chasing the total, Pune started off well with Ajinkyaa Rahane and Usman Khwaja, who added 31 runs 3.4 overs before Khwaja was caught by Iyer off Morris 19. Rahane played with calm and made 41 runs before rains forced a premature end to match.
