DSK Shivajians Football Club will look to register their first victory in the first home ground match of Hero I-League when they play defending champions Mohun Bagan FC on 30thj January 2016 at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune.
DSK Shivajians Football Club began their Hero I-League campaign with a 0-0 draw against Sporting Club de Goa in Goa. They then lost 2-0 to Aizawl FC at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Aizawl. In their last match, DSK Shivajians were denied any points by East Bengal FC as the Pune-based club were contained after going down 1-0 in the first half.
The defending champions, Mohun Bagan, on the other hand, started their Hero I-League with a 3-1 victory against Aizawl FC, following which they drew 1-1 in the Kolkata Derby against East Bengal FC.
Derrick Pereira, Head Coach, DSK Shivajians, speaking before the match, said: “We had a tough start to the league with three tough away matches. However, with every match, our performance has improved. Even though we are yet to score, we had quite a few chances in the last match. Our team has been together for a short while but we can see the confidence and chemistry grow and develop with every passing day.”
“If we perform, we will get the result. We need to create more chances and finish those chances. Tomorrow’s match will be a tough one against the defending champions. They have a good squad and they are currently the top team in the league in terms of performance. We have a game plan in place and if everything goes according to the plan, I am certain we can get points off the current champions.”
