It’s time to be ruthless to those who are cheating the game, says Kapil Dev

“It’s time to be ruthless to those who are cheating the game,” says former Indian captain, Kapil Dev. He slammed the cricketers for taking short-cuts for making money or taking any kind of supplements to improve their performance. He said that it’s time for BCCI to take a firm stand on these issues otherwise they will create more menace in Indian cricket as too much money in the game can lure cricketer to commit mistakes.

Kapil took an example of few of the Pakistani cricketers who were punished for doing such act and wants that the young cricketers should learn something from that. He was quoted by The Economic Times saying, "I think you have to be ruthless so that the boys cannot do such a thing. If Sreesanth has done something as stupid as that, the repercussions for it are well known around the world. Look at what happened to those cricketers from Pakistan... If you can't learn from other people's mistakes, you should be punished."

A new controversy was sparked up few days back, when Pradeep Sangwan who hails from Delhi, failing a dope test. Kapil feels that it’s time for the senior players to come and educate the players on all these issues.

He was quoted by DNA saying, "Competition is increasing. Pressure is increasing. And people make mistakes...This game has given us superheroes. You could give the examples of Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Anil Kumble. If a young boy has to understand cricket, he should look at a better sportsman.”

On the issue of whether BCCI should come under RTI, Kapil said “Although the cricket has done much better than other sports in India, the Board could be more transparent. Board is just like a Parliament and electing good people will get you good results."
