Resignation of Rajeev Shukla won’t solve the problem: Lalit Modi

“Stepping down from the post of IPL Commissioner won’t resolve the issue of betting and spot-fixing,” says Lalit Modi. He slammed the IPL Chief and held him responsible for all such wrong doings in IPL. Rajeev Shukla resigned from the position of IPL Commissioner last evening which triggered the voice for the removal of BCCI chief N Srinivasan.

As per the reports published in Hindustan Times, Modi was quoted saying, “Resignation from the IPL Chairmanship won’t solve the issue that has hurt the sentiment of cricketing fans all over the world. This surely raises the question on his credibility. It shows that he was either incompetent or the co-conspirator.”

He was quoted by Indian Express saying, “He should take the responsibility of cleaning up the mess he had made rather than simply leaving it in a midst of controversies. He needs to stop playing the blame-game because it’s doing nothing good for cricket fraternity who is in shock after such disgraceful acts of corruption.”

Former IPL Commissioner earlier made it very clear that, “N Srinivasan and Rajiv Shukla should step down from their respective posts and IS Bindra should be brought in to clean this corrupt system. These committee meetings are just a waste of time and it’s a strategy to distract the media’s attention.”

Though, resignation from Rajeev Shukla, which came just before the all-powerful Working Committee meet in Chennai on Sunday, will play a crucial role in Srinivasan's continuance.

"Nothing short of a SGM is acceptable. We should keep pressure up for that. It time will derail process," he concluded.
