Indian cricket board to nominate Rahul Dravid for Khel Ratna and Yuvraj Singh for Arjuna Award

The Board of Control For Cricket in India has decided to recommend Rahul Dravid’s name for the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh’s name for the Arjuna Award, says a report in The Hindu.

“We will be forwarding the names of Rahul Dravid for Khel Ratna Award and Yuvraj Singh for the Arjuna Award next week (to the government),” BCCI’s CAO Prof Ratnakar Shetty was quoted in the report. The deadline for the nominations was extended by the government till July 20, 2012.

Dravid recently retired from all forms of cricket and if he wins the award he will only be the third cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni to get the prestigious award.

Meanwhile, Australian captain Michael Clarke has urged his players to leave England with at least one win to their name. England 3-0 with only one match to go, says a report in The Hindustan Times.

England in the match restricted Australia to a score of 200 and then chased down the target with more than two overs to spare.

Clarke after the defeat said, “We've been outplayed -- simple as that, but we've got one game to go, and I'd be very disappointed to go home without a win -- that's for sure.”
