I will try my best to come up with a special performance in London Olympics: Jwala Gutta

Badminton doubles specialist Jwala Gutta says she is focusing on her fitness levels in the run-up to next month’s London Olympics, says a report in The Hindu, adding that it is an honour to represent India in two events (women’s doubles and mixed doubles) at the mega event.

“I’m also pleased that there are expectations on me,” the flamboyant shuttler said on the side-lines of a sponsor event. I will try my best to come up with a special performance. I don’t take or feel any pressure (because of the expectations). But, let us hope for the best,” Jwala said when asked about her medal prospects.

According to a report in The Times Of India, Jwala said she does not take the pressure to perform but would like to give her best shot to win medal in the Olympics. "Expecting a medal from me, it is a big achievement. I will not take it as pressure, I will take it in a positive way. I always enjoyed playing in such big events. I am definitely going to give my best," she said.

The 28-year-old felt that shuttler Saina Nehwal, shooter Gagan Narang and woman boxer Mary Kom are among the other sportspersons who can win medals in the Olympics.
