Mohali: Half centuries from Murali Vijay (53 off 49 balls) and Manan Vohra (51 off 33 balls) and a quickfire 32 off 14 balls from Glenn Maxwell helped Kings XI Punjab beat Rising Pune Supergiants by eight wickets in the IPL encounter at PCA Stadium in Mohali on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 152 runs, Kings XI roped in the match with eight balls remaining. Batting first riding on a fantastic half century from Faf du Plessis (67 off 53 balls), a 26-ball-38 from Shane Watson, Supergiants scored 152. Mohit Sharma took three wickets for 23 runs while Sandeep Sharma too bowled well walked away with two wickets for 23 runs.
Kings XI skipper David Miller said, “It all clicked tonight. We got a good start from the openers and before that the bowlers did really well. Vijay and Vohra have done really well in the past too and credit to them. Maxi did a great job in the end. We still need to think about our batting in the middle overs and work on it a bit.”
Meanwhile, man of the match Manan Vohra said, “I was batting well earlier but a big knock was missing. I've been playing with Murali bhai since last year now, so we have a good tuning. Today, I played a poor shot and would like to make 70-80.”
