The stage is set for the main round of ICC World T20. The first match of the global event is scheduled on March 15 between India and New Zealand, the two hot favourites of the tournament. Both the teams are in good form and look to aim big in the tournament.
Talking about their recent performances, under skipper Brendonn McCullumm the Black Caps were finding their way to glory more often than not. They have managed to reach the final of the ODI world Cup 2015. So their performances in the ICC events were as good as anybody.
On the other side of the picture, India are on a roll after three successive T20 series win. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, India managed to reach the final of last edition of the World T20 before losing to Sri Lanka. The team is looking well balanced at the moment with mixture of young talents and experience.
Head to Head in T20I:
Here is a surprising statistics for all the Indian fans: India has never won a T20I against New Zealand. Both teams have met five times in the shortest form of the game and out of these five New Zealand have won four while pne match was abandoned due to rain interruptions:
16 Sep 2007 at Johannesburg = New Zealand won by 10 runs.
25 Feb 2009 at Christchurch = New Zealand won by 7 wickets.
27 Feb 2009 at Wellington = New Zealand won by 5 wickets.
8 Sept 2012 at Vizag = Rain, no result.
11 Sept 2012 at Chennai = New Zealand won by 1 run.
So, the odds are against team India. Can India beat New Zealand and break the winning streak of New Zealand or we are in for another Black Caps’ victory to make it 5-0?
