New Delhi: Assam Rifles beat Sporting De-Goa 3-2 in quarter finals matchup of the 2012 Durand Cup football tournament.
Bong Takwi Betrand opened the scoring for Sporting in the 5th minute of the match and the Rifles restored the parity just four ahead of the half time hooter through M Kamei.
Two minutes later Bulu Jidung scored of Assam Rifles scored the second goal for them.
With the score line 2-1 in favour of Rifles, the teams went into the break.
After the change of ends, Ajit Kumar Singh scored in 69 minutes to put the match virtually out of Sporting’s hand.
Ogba Kalu however scored one for the Goan club but that could hardly impact the outcome of the match.
