Youngster Rishabh Pant’s breathtaking 63 ball 128 could not quite help Delhi win the match as Sunrisers Hyderabad became the first team to qualify for the Play Offs defeating the Delhi Daredevils by 9 wickets. Pant’s innings studded with 15 fours and 7 sixes is one of the best in tournament’s history but unfortunately ended up on the losing side.
On Thursday at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi, Shikhar Dhawan’s 92 and Kane Williamson’s 83 and their unbeaten 176 run stand for the second wicket helped SRH beat DD by 9 wickets in the league match of the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League. With the win, SRH move to 18 points and are sure to finish amidst the Top 3.
Delhi batted first and scored a 187 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. In response, SRH got to the target in just 18.5 overs with the loss of just 1 wicket.
Prior to this Delhi won the toss and elected to have a bat first. After losing their first 3 wickets for 43 runs, Rishabh Pant took charge of the batting and put on a great exhibition of batsmanship. With the help of Pant’s heroics, DD scored 135 in the last 10 overs- with 26 runs coming of the 20th over itself. Pant scored 4,4,6,6,6 of Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s last over.
However, Dhawan’s knock, which made the target of 188 incredibly easy, grabbed the man of the match performance.
